The Featured "Five Rules" of the Week is selected by the editor, possibly with input from random strangers. The criteria is simple - I [we] liked it.
The featured contributor for the week of October 5th, 2009 is Terry Border:
...editor's note - Terry was an early contributor to this site, and his submission showed that rules don't have to be so uptight and serious. Terry is an artist, and chances are you have seen some of his images floating around the web. He has a book that is going on sale...RIGHT NOW...and I highly recommend that you head over to Amazon.com and buy a copy. If you need further incentive, take a look at the video he made below.
terry border photographs the secret lives of objects. he's got a book of these images coming out this fall, and he asks you (yes - you) to please buy a copy. in the meantime you can visit his site here.
Here are Terry's "Five Rules For Life":
1.) Stop caring what people think.
When you don't care if people think you're crazy or not, you can get a lot of interesting things done. I owe any success that I have to this rule.
2.) Don’t take life seriously.
Someone once said not to take life so seriously, because none of us are getting out alive. If this sounds depressing, you are taking life too seriously.
3.) Stop trying to be so damn cool.
Knock it off will you? You'll save money and energy for stuff you actually like doing.
4.) Tell your loved ones that you love them.
Say it out loud, and often. Start today. You won't regret it.
5.) There isn't any excuse for bad manners.
Terry currently resides in Indiana.
