"Previous" Featured Five Rules of The Week

The Featured "Five Rules" of the Week is selected by the editor, possibly with input from random strangers. The criteria is simple - I [we] liked it.

The featured contributor for the week of November 09th, 2009 is Lauren Stewart:

lauren stewart is a college student studying journalism. she hopes her passion for writing will take her places one day and is enjoying starting out in the blogosphere; her blog is lauren's thoughts.

Here are Lauren's "Five Rules For Life":

1.) Forgive everyone.
No matter how angry you are at someone, chances are you'll have to see them again in your life. Whether you become friends again after your dispute, imagine how much better you'll feel if you at least tried to settle your differences and you forgave them in your heart. As cheesy as it sounds, forgiveness allows you to move on in life.

2.) Love.
This sounds broad and it is. It goes along with not judging people, not hating people who have wronged you, and not taking anyone for granted. Figure out who you love and shower them with it. Make sure your boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband, mom, dad, siblings, friends, cousins - whoever - feels your love.

3.) Get organized.
Time is precious in this life. Think about how frazzled you get when you forget appointments, lose your keys, or are late for the 27th time. Get an agenda and write down things you need to do. Clean your house and make sure everything you need is in it's place. Your mind will thank you.

4.) Enjoy the simple things.
You'll feel a lot happier if you focus on the great things in life. Try to forget your worries for a little bit and go for a walk. Enjoy the birds chirping and the flowers blooming. It might just help you to remember this when snow flurries have frozen your car doors shut.

5.) Work out.
Exercising increases endorphins (makes you happy!), decreases anxiety and anger, helps your health, and the list goes on and on. It might be begrudgingly hard to start, but your body will thank you in the long run.

Lauren currently resides in Michigan.
