Here are Lou's "Five Rules For Life":

1.) Work hard at your marriage.
Tell your spouse that you love them each and every day! Never take your most important relationship for granted and make sure that you continually work to make that relationship better than it was yesterday.

2.) Enjoy your children.
Your kids will only be kids for a short time and will leave the nest soon enough. Make sure that you spend as much time with them as possible when they are small - when they beg for your attention and time. I've never heard anyone utter their last words, saying "I wish I spent more time at the office".

3.) Enjoy the time that you have in good ways (as much as possible).
It is so easy to get absorbed in office issues and fret about unpleasant things. Why choose to spend your energy getting irritated with your boss, co-worker, or neighbor when you can spend that same energy opening a great bottle of wine and sharing it with someone you enjoy. I would rather spend my time laughing versus crying.

4.) You really can't take it with you.
A co-worker of mine said that he's never seen a U-Haul trailer behind a hearse. Enjoy what you have, use it in good health, and don't fret that scratch in the paint. You won't care if the next owner takes good care of it or not after you're gone!

5.) Be humble and kind.

Lou currently resides in the state of Oregon.
