beth salemi is 33 years old and has been married for 15 years to her wonderful husband steve. she is an er nurse, mom of a 13-year old son and 10-year old daughter, and an amateur photographer...not necessarily in that order.

Here are Beth's "Five Rules For Life":

1.) You can only control your own actions and responses, not anyone else's.
Don't make other people's problems your own. You won't be helping them or yourself by doing so.

2.) Consume the things you love.
Burn the scented candle, make your shopping list on the pretty stationary, wear your favorite shirt. Enjoy it all and when it is used up or worn out you will have gotten much more enjoyment from it than if it was stashed in a closet.

3.) Embrace your geekiness.
Who says you have to be cool? And who decides what cool is anyway? Spend time and energy on things that matter to you, not the things you think you are supposed to want.

4.) Spend time alone and often.
Go for a walk, drive to the beach, eat at a diner, stay home...it doesn't matter. Enjoy not being available or engaged in the people around you - it is therapeutic.

5.) Take compliments with grace.
If someone tells you that you look great, don't try to convince them otherwise. Don't stammer or change the subject. Hold you head high, smile big, and just say "Thank you."

Beth currently resides in California (the Central Valley, to be exact - Beth points out there is more to California than Los Angeles and San Francisco!)
