jana souza is a wife, mommy of two (both under 4), step mom to a tween, and an interior designer/studio owner. she is a friend, christian, and recovering perfectionist who values her life very much, and is constantly striving to achieve some kind of balance.

Here are Jana's "Five Rules For Life":

1.) Listen; no, I mean really listen.
People are starving to be heard, young and old. When you really listen, you learn a ton, you get out of yourself, and you feed people's souls.

2.) Spend time reflecting on the good, the bad and the ugly.
Morbid reflection is forbidden, but sufficient reflection allows for a clearer perspective and an opportunity to learn from life's bumps, tweak your future approach, and mend any bumps that your behavior might have created.

3.) Find humor in things that cause you stress.
Humor has become one of my best allies in maneuvering the waters of this life.

4.) Establish "norms" in your life that honor you and honor others.
Treat people well and expect the same in return. If people show you they cannot do that, implement boundaries that protect you without making other's wrong (this is very complicated to implement for me, but entirely priceless).

5.) Be generous with your knowledge, your gifts, and your wisdom.
There is enough to go around and in my experience, more becomes available to everyone when we operate from this premise.

Jana currently resides in Walnut Creek, California.
